How We Make Sticky Labels
When you place an order with FastLabels, you will be prompted to choose your preferred material, adhesive, finish and distribution method. Let’s look at these options in turn and see how our custom self-adhesive labels are printed and supplied across the UK.
Sizes and Shapes
Our self-adhesive labels can be printed in any size and shape, from 20mm circles and squares to 284mm by 974mm custom shapes. Whether you need small sticky labels, large product labels or custom adhesive labels, we can manufacture them to your exact measurements. If you are looking to save money, our Basic orders come with 16 pre-cut shapes (a selection of circles, squares, rectangles and ovals) in our gloss paper material, costing as little as £5.85 an order. If you require more options, our PRO orders can be printed in any shape and size, and start at £12.00 an order.
Materials
Your sticker labels can be printed on any of our six available materials - gloss, matt or textured paper; or white, clear or metallicpolypropylene (a plastic-based material similar to vinyl). Our paper labels are less expensive and more eco-friendly, while our polypropylene labels are more durable, water-resistant and UV resistant, and offer a greater range of design options (with our metallic and clear materials both allowing for label looks that our paper materials cannot manage).
Adhesives
Your custom labels’ adhesive layer may need to have a specific level of tack (stickiness), depending on their intended use. Our standard permanent adhesive (also known as high-tack) is made to keep a label on a surface once it has been stuck on, and is ideal for most standard label uses for this reason. Our temporary (or low-tack) adhesive, meanwhile, is designed to be easily removed, making it a better option for things like pricing labels, address labels and advertising materials, where the label is usually removed once the item is purchased or the promotion has ended.
Finishes
All our polypropylene self-adhesive label materials can have matt or gloss lamination added. Our gloss lamination will make your labels even more durable and completely waterproof, while also giving them a smooth, glossy appearance — ideal for gloss labels and premium product packaging. Our matt lamination, meanwhile, gives the label a sophisticated matt appearance that can be written on with a ballpoint pen or permanent marker. Please note that lamination is not available for our paper materials, and matt lamination is not available by default for clear polypropylene (although it can be specially requested).
Distribution Methods
Your personalised adhesive labels can be supplied to you on sheets, rolls or as individual stickers. If you have your labels supplied on sheets, you can choose from up to four standard paper sizes (depending on individual label size): DL, A4, A5 and A6. All our roll orders are supplied on 76mm cardboard tube cores, which are ideal for hand or mechanical product labelling. Individual stickers are die-cut, single pieces that are ideal for selling, adding to deliveries or handing out.
All our custom self-adhesive labels are professionally printed in the UK using professional-grade printing equipment and FDA-approved ink, making them identical in quality to supermarket shelf labels. Some of our additional perks include rapid 2-3 day turnaround (with free next-day-after-dispatch UK delivery on all PRO orders), our optional human design service (free on all PRO orders), and a full reprint or refund quality guarantee. No matter your self-adhesive labelling needs, you will be in good hands with us.
If you would like a better idea of how our different materials, finishes and adhesives look and function, we would be more than happy to send you a Free Sample Pack.
How Our Custom Adhesive Labels are Used
Many of our label orders are product labels, designed to add branding and essential information to food packaging, bottles, jars, cosmetics, candles and similar items, and different products lend themselves to different label specifications. Dried pantry items might suit paper labels, which can be left on their cardboard packaging and recycled. Cosmetic items kept in bathrooms and showers, meanwhile, might fare better with laminated polypropylene labels, as these are waterproof and resistant to damage from leaks, spills, and regular handling.
Some of our sticky label orders are intended for advertising or other time-specific purposes. These include promotional discount stickers to be added directly to items or nearby price signs, large decal-style stickers for shop windows or wall displays, and price or barcode labels that are removed from items before they are first used. These labels work well with our temporary adhesive, which enables them to be removed cleanly from their surfaces without leaving any residue.
Other printed adhesive labels might serve more stationery-like functions in the home or office. Examples of this include Self-Adhesive address labels for outgoing mail and office equipment, die-cut stickers for personal or decorative purposes, and logo stickers to use as marketing collateral. Depending on their intended use, customers might consider using a matt material, like matt paper or matt lamination on polypropylene, to make their labels easy to write on.
