FAQ: The Printing Process

We use two professional-grade printing systems, each selected to suit different types of orders:

  • HP Indigo 6000 Digital Press (used for Pro orders) - Offers exceptional colour precision, crisp detail and a premium finish. Ideal for high-end, custom labelling requirements.
  • Pro C7500 Sheet-Fed Toner Printer (used for Basic orders) - A reliable, cost-effective option for everyday label printing, especially on gloss paper.

Both printers are supported by advanced GMG colour management software to ensure consistent colour matching and sharp, high-quality results across every job.

Turnaround times vary based on specifications and quantity, but there is always a tailored estimated delivery date on your emailed invoice and on the basket page before you purchase.

Note that this ETA is dependent on prompt approval of any proof that we have sent to you.

Once your design is ready for printing, your labels will typically go through 5 stages:

  1. Print. Your design will be printed on your material of choice from a wide-format web.
  2. Lamination (optional). If you’ve chose lamination for your order, we’ll apply it as the labels or stickers exit the printer.
  3. Cutting and trimming. We’ll either use a die cutting press or a laser (depending on your order specifications) to cut through the printed material while keeping the backing material intact. This achieves the final desired size.
  4. Slitting into the desired supply format. If you’ve chosen rolls, we’ll slit the web into each roll and wind it on a cardboard tube core. If you’ve chosen sheets, we’ll slit it to the desired sheet size. For singles, each label will be individually slit and stacked up.
  5. Quality control and packaging. Finally, your labels will go through a quality control process where we inspect them for quality, and all being well, they’ll be securely packaged up ready for dispatch.

If you’re using any kind of label applicator, please select the “Apply with machine” option when ordering, or state this to your sales advisor. We can then incorporate any advanced specs such as single lanes, orientation, leading edge, inside/outside wound, and labels per roll or max roll diameter.

You can also let us know about any other specific requirements your machinery has, and we can most likely accommodate this as well.
