Your Die cut Stickers, As You Want Them

Printed die cut stickers are becoming increasingly popular in recent years, both as relatively cheap marketing collateral for businesses and as decorative materials for individual use. With die cut sticker printing, both the sticker and its backing paper are cut along the design cutline or outline with special die cutters (hence the name ‘die cut stickers’). The individual custom cut stickers can then be utilised in a variety of ways.

While the unique selling point of personalised die cut stickers lies in their custom shaping, we offer plenty of additional ways you can tailor them for your exact needs. Your stickers can be printed on any of our seven paper or polypropylene plastic label materials, backed with permanent or temporary adhesive, and finished with matt or gloss lamination.

Whichever customisation options you choose, all of our die cut sticker orders are full-colour printed in the UK using professional-grade equipment, with rapid turnaround and FREE next-day delivery after dispatch. We also back each order up with our quality guarantee and will reprint or refund your order if you are not satisfied.

Hand Them Out and Have Customers Show Them Off

Once your die cut individual labels are in your hands, the ways in which they can be used are truly endless.

As a promotional material, cut out stickers can be added to customer orders, given away at events and conventions, or used as a fun alternative to flyers and business cards. If your die cut label design is particularly appealing, your customers may then stick them to their laptops, smart phones, drinking flasks or other personal equipment, thereby becoming walking advertisements for your brand.

Die cut stickers can also be used for artistic endeavours. If you are interested in collages or scrapbooking, why not order custom die cut stickers of images or patterns you want to feature in your creations? If you create art, you could order die cut stickers and sell them as alternatives to original artwork or prints. You could even get your favourite photos printed out as die cut stickers as an alternative to standard photo frames and albums.

How to Order Your Die Cut Stickers

Die Cut Sticker Features

Material

Your die cut stickers can be printed on paper or polypropylene plastic (a material similar to vinyl) self-adhesive material. You can choose between gloss, matt or martele textured paper; or white, clear, metallic or holographic polypropylene. Die cut paper labels are more eco-friendly and tend to be less expensive, while die cut polypropylene plastic labels are more durable and offer a greater range of design possibilities.

Adhesive

Our die cut stickers can be backed with either permanent or temporary adhesive. Our permanent adhesive is our standard, and it has been designed to hold tightly onto most surfaces once a sticker has been applied. Our temporary adhesive has a lower degree of tack, so while it will stay reliably hold onto a surface, it can also be easily removed without leaving any annoying residue. As its name suggests, our temporary adhesive is best for temporary uses, such as pricing labels or promotional stickers.

Finish

We offer two finishing options for our polypropylene labels: matt or gloss lamination. Our matt lamination gives a smooth, less ‘grippy’, sophisticated finish that provides extra sticker protection and can be easily written on with a ballpoint pen or permanent marker. Our gloss lamination will give your die cut stickers a superb shiny appearance and provide maximum water resistance, UV resistance and resistance to other tricky conditions, but it cannot be easily written on.

Supply Method

Our die cut single stickers always come supplied as individual, custom-cut pieces. If you were to take a look at the rest of our product range, we can also supply labels and stickers on rolls or on sheets.

Durability

All of our stickers offer some resistance to common disturbances like moisture and handling, and will generally hold up well in indoor environments. If your die cut labels will be exposed to harsher conditions (outdoor environments, wet environments, heavy handling or contact with rough surfaces, for example), we would recommend choosing from our more durable polypropylene materials, as well as adding matt or gloss lamination for an extra layer of protection.

Thickness

The thickness of your die cut stickers will depend on which material is used to make them, as well as whether lamination is added.

  • White Polypropylene: 123µm (147µm with gloss lamination; 161µm with matt lamination)
  • Clear Polypropylene: 116µm (140µm with gloss lamination; 154µm with matt lamination)
  • Metallic Polypropylene: 113µm (137µm with gloss lamination; 151µm with matt lamination)
  • Gloss Paper: 124µm (lamination not recommended)
  • Matt Paper: 123µm (lamination not recommended)
  • Textured Paper: 195µm (lamination not recommended)

Operating Temperature

All our die cut stickers operate best at temperatures from -30°C to 80°C (up to 95°C for short periods). This means they can be exposed to almost all typical hot and cold environments, from being stored inside standard freezers to being stuck to vessels holding hot coffee or soup.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

Die cut stickers are cut all the way through both the sticker material and the backing paper, so each sticker is supplied as its own custom-shaped piece. Kiss cut stickers are only cut through the top sticker layer, leaving the backing sheet intact around the design. Die cut stickers are usually best when you want a premium individual sticker to hand out, sell or include with customer orders, while kiss cut stickers can be easier to peel and better suited to sticker sheets or very delicate designs.

Yes, die cut stickers can be used outdoors, but the best material and finish will depend on the conditions they will be exposed to. For outdoor use, wet environments or heavy handling, we recommend polypropylene material with matt or gloss lamination for extra protection. Paper materials are better suited to indoor or short-term applications.

Yes, die cut stickers are commonly used on bottles, laptops, phones, packaging, boxes, bags and promotional items. For surfaces that may be handled often, exposed to moisture or used outdoors, we would usually recommend a polypropylene material with lamination for better durability.

Die cut stickers can cost more than standard shaped stickers because they require custom cutting around the shape of your artwork. The final price depends on the size, material, finish, quantity, number of designs and complexity of the shape. You can get an instant price using the online order form.

Die cut stickers can be slightly harder to peel than kiss cut stickers because the backing is cut to the same shape as the sticker, rather than having a larger backing sheet around it. However, they give a cleaner, more premium appearance when supplied individually. If easy peeling is your main priority, speak to our team and we can help you choose the most suitable format for your design.

Our polypropylene die cut stickers offer good water resistance, especially when finished with matt or gloss lamination. Gloss lamination gives the highest level of water resistance. Paper die cut stickers are not recommended for regular contact with water, so polypropylene is usually the better choice for bottles, packaging, outdoor use or items that may be handled frequently.

No, you do not always need to supply a cutline. If you already have one, you can include it with your artwork. If not, our team can check your artwork and help create or adjust the cutline before production, so your stickers are cut cleanly to the shape of your design.

Die cut stickers work best with bold logos, graphics, illustrations and artwork with a clear outer shape. Very fine details, thin edges or narrow parts can be harder to cut cleanly, so our team will check your artwork before production and advise if any changes are needed.
